It’s spring, so it must be time to move…
Yes, we’re moving again – this time to Bozeman, Montana – and this has just got to be our last big move because the truck hasn’t even arrived yet and we’re already exhausted.

Our year in Bend, Oregon has been wonderful and it’s a great town with lots of fantastic outdoor activities, but, we’ve decided to go where there’s even more open space (friends, family, and a broader selection of newer homes on larger lots also factor into the mix).
There may or may not be anything new here over the next week as we move and get settled in – no, we haven’t bought any property yet, but, we plan to by the fall.

I like Montana. Have fun.
Good luck – that’s a beautiful part of the country. A little too cold for my tastes for about three months of the year, but beautifull nonetheless.
Awesome skiing.
Good luck Tim. Bozeman is beautiful and one day I’d like to move out that way. Still stuck in SoCal.
I didn’t think the Bend locale would satisfy you. I lived there for 1 year, too, and moved. There were many reasons but it’s one of those places that is:
Good from far, but far from good
Bozeman is cool. I personally like the area a lot but it’s too cold for my tastes on a year round basis. Still, it’s much better than Bend for many reasons.
This is the beauty of being a renter. You can keep moving with relative ease. Imagine if you had to try to sell a home!
You’ll love Bozeman – again, too cold for about 2-3 months, but you’ll just have to plan your travels accordingly. You can’t beat the skies, the hiking, or the people – good luck in the move!
Congrats on the move! Montana is a great place!
After Montana you should consider Wyoming. Virtually the same weather, but with no state income tax!
Colorado is a great place too, as I mentioned the last time you moved.
Which has better broadband?
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Bend, since the service here has been fantastic.
Cool. I’ve been watching Bend from the OC, planning on spending some time there. Kind of hoping to get a good deal but not wanting the area to fall into a real funk.
You lucky dog. Being able to sample different parts of the West before picking out a place to live seems unfair to those of us who are stuck in cubicles all day long with decades to go, working for The Man.
That remote mountain cabin will be better for working on your Manifesto!
Serious envy here, too.
Interesting post

Make sure to hike around Glacier Nat. Park in last Aug., very early Sept.
More wildlife viewing than anyplace in America.
My only complaint with Montana is that the people are not friendly to tourists(dislike outsiders), even though tourists provide a large percentage of the population with jobs.
I kind of doubt that frugality is the new normal. Isn’t consumer spending up?

I don’t know American mapping conventions. What are all the green blotches?
Federal Park Land. Don’t tell Glenn Beck that.
Hi,
Enjoy the new digs! I think you will be hitting it at peak season. You may want to think about the snow bird idea, get a place down south as well for the 3 months that it gets real cold. A condo in Arizona, or New Mexico would nice as well as being cheap.
Home is where the heart is. But I hope you find that “perfect” place anyway because moving around must really suck.
Thanks, Adam. What do they grow there: bison and bears?
