I’ve taken the liberty of fixing up these poll results that were not displaying properly from a related McClatchy story on the subject of how the public sees federal spending in relation to the pay of federal workers. While I don’t really remember what I expected to see when the “View Results” button was selected, it certainly wasn’t this.

There’s another graphic with the main story showing how the pay of federal workers compares with the private sector, a topic that has been covered here before and remains quite controversial. That’s old news, but, with an average combined salary and benefits of almost $120,000 per year, still quite disturbing.
What I’d like to know is if there was some email chain that had thousands of folks in Washington D.C. (1,769 to be exact) furiously casting votes in this poll yesterday or if the results reflect the current mood of the public. If it’s the latter, it is clearly at odds with the views expressed toward the current group of elected government workers.
