I just don’t get the iPhone mania. Never did. Never will. I’m sure it’s a great phone that does all kinds of neat stuff, but most of the things it does people don’t really need and probably don’t use. Surely it’s different for the younger generation who are constantly connected and still climbing the career ladder (as opposed to an early retiree like myself), so, like Blackberries a few years back, it makes sense to own one for that reason, but, the need to have the latest and greatest gadget as soon as possible no matter the cost really baffles me.

It’s akin to a religious experience for many waiting in these lines, however, I do understand the motives of one young man with long sideburns waiting outside the San Francisco Apple store for the last five days who was paid $1,500 to do so. Another lady interviewed on this report said something like, “I just couldn’t imagine not getting one today”.

I couldn’t imagine waiting in a line like that even if I really did need one.
